Eating Disorders

Bulimia Group. This is an ongoing group, when one person graduates, I bring a new person in.

If you are in therapy or just starting, call me for a free 20 minute consultation to see if this group is right for you. I do individual and groups. I have found that working with others through this issue helps so much to not feel like you are alone. It helps people recover and move forward with their life.

Body Image and Eating Disorders

I have worked with Eating Disorders for 30 years in my private practice. Also, my experience includes working as a therapist at Swedish/Ballard Hospital in Seattle on their eating disorder unit and teaching a class on eating disorders to Masters-level counseling students at Antioch University. I have learned by working with thousands of people what works. The good news is that eating disorders CAN be worked through.

The issues we work through in therapy are:

  • practical ways to relate to food and weight fissures
  • self esteem
  • working through body hatred
  • how to deal with other people
  • having a voice
  • dealing with parents and finding out how to be who you are, not just who your parents want you to be
  • life dreams, what makes your spirit feel light
  • how to live your life the way that works for you
  • listening to your intuition and how to trust it

Parents of People with Eating Disorders

Often when a daughter or a son has an eating disorder, parents have no idea where to go and what to do about it. There ARE reasons that people have eating disorders and there are things that parents can do to help.

The Issues We Work On Are:

  • information about what causes eating disorders and what the treatment options are
  • where to find treatment
  • what sort of treatment would be best
  • how to approach the subject of eating and weight
  • resources for further information
  • how the whole family can work through this issue

Fees:
$110 for a 50 minute session.
